DMZ + Haengjusanseong Fortress
DMZ Peace Gondola, US Army Camp Greaves, Dokgae Bridge in Imjingak area
This tour includes the Imjingak DMZ Peace Gondola, US Army Camp Greaves, Dokgae Bridge, special lunch in the Civilian Control Zone and the Haengjusanseong fortress near Seoul. DMZ Peace Gondola is one of the newest additions to the Imjingak area. Camp Greaves served as a camp base for the 506th US Second Infantry Division for about 50 years after the ceasefire agreement of the Korean War. The land was given back to the Korean government in 2007. The camp has been turned into a peace and security experience facility, and it is located approximately 2 kilometers away from North Korea. ‘Imjingang Dokgae Bridge’ is a railway bridge that was destroyed by bombing during the Korean War. It is the only tourist facility where you can freely enjoy the historical and natural scenery within the Civilian Control Line without a separate entrance permit.
Haengjusanseong Fortress
Haengjusanseong Fortress is well known as the battlefield of Haengjudaecheop, where General Gwon Yul led his soldiers to victory during the 1592 Japanese Aggression. The fortress stands on a naturally fortified mountain( Deogyangsan), which has Hangang River flowing along its southern side and Changneungcheon Stream flowing along the southeastern side and meeting Hangang River. Together, they form a natural moat. A monument constructed in 1603 to commemorate the victorious battle and a temple called Chungjangsa Temple, which enshrines a portrait of the general, stand on the summit.
